Get Your Suspended Liquid Web Website Back

Aug 28, 2018

Did your hosting provider, Liquid Web suspend your website? Read on to learn how to fix your website.

If your payments are not overdue, and your resource usage is not over the top, you may be facing suspension because your website may have been infected. This is a common reason for websites to get suspended by their hosting providers.

Liquid Web web host

If you stop to think about it, hosting providers are landlords of the house, which you rent for your website to reside in. If Liquid Web suspects your website to contain malware, it is like the landlord suspects the tenant to host a malicious character in the house, disrupting the well-being and security of your neighbors and the locality itself. Similarly, especially in shared hosting environment, infections affect and spread to other websites on the same network. Your landlord will evict you. If Liquid Web detects activities not consistent with their Terms of Service, they will suspend your account. Depending on the severity of the issue, you may not even receive any notification about the suspension.

You might ask, since your web host is responsible for your website location, it could handle the requests to your website as well. In a way, they do. They filter the IPs at network level. Nonetheless, if a website in their network is used to send out an attack, they will block that website and ask that corresponding client to resolve the underlying issue. A compromised website is a menace in the network. Even if the IP is blocked it can easily do other damage. It can put your IP or even the sub-net on blacklists or worse, aid in illegal activity.

This is Liquid Web’s stand on the matter, in their own words.

8.1  Liquid Web may suspend some or all of the Services without
liability to Customer if Customer

(i) fails to pay the applicable fees for the Services when due

(ii) the Services are being used, have been used, or will, with
commercially reasonable certainty, be used in breach of these
Terms of Service;

(iii) Customer fails to cooperate with an investigation of any
suspected breach of the Acceptable Use provisions of these
Terms of Service;

(iv) Liquid Web reasonably believes that the Services have
been accessed or utilized in any way by a third party without
Customer’s consent, or

(v) suspension of services is reasonably necessary to protect
Liquid Web’s hosting environment and/or its customers.

8.2  Liquid Web will provide Customer reasonable advance notice
of a suspension based on a violation of these Terms of Service
and a chance to cure the violation on which the suspension is
based, unless Liquid Web determines, in its reasonable
commercial judgment, that an immediate suspension is necessary
to protect Liquid Web’s network and its customers’ data from
an imminent, significant operational, network integrity or
security risk.

8.3  Suspensions based on Customer’s breach of these Terms of
Service will not relieve Customer’s obligation to pay for the
suspended Services during the period of suspension. Any
suspension imposed under this paragraph will be terminated upon
Customer’s cure of the breach causing the suspension. In the
event the Customer is unable to cure the breach within fifteen
(15) days from the date on which the breach occurred, the
suspension may be treated as a termination for Cause. If
Customer’s Services are compromised, then Customer must resolve
the cause of the compromise before Liquid Web will reinstate service.

8.4  In the case that Service is suspended for Customer’s breach
of these Terms of Service Liquid Web shall have the right to deny
access to, and/or, destroy data stored on the compromised server
or account. Liquid Web may at its own discretion allow access to
a suspended account.

Now we will show you how MalCare can help you in this situation and even further.

MalCare is an all-inclusive WordPress Security Service that handles the following:

  1. Malware Scanning
  2. Malware Cleaning
  3. Firewall
  4. Login Protection
  5. Site Management
  6. Site Hardening

Malware Scanning

MalCare detects even dormant malware immediately, even if their existence in your website were previously unknown.  Also, MalCare scanner does not utilize your website resources. When a site is added for the first time, it copies all executable files only to its servers and then runs the scan. Note that in subsequent scans, it only copies the incremental changes to the site.

Malware Cleaning

Malware that has been on your site for an extended amount of time is definitely harming your website and the visitors, as well. While you wait for security specialists to swoop in and save the day, your site could get blacklisted, or worse, you could lose all your content. Actually, both situations are terrible to contemplate.

On MalCare, you can look up the hacked files, (that the security service lists down) and remove all of them with just a few clicks. With the MalCare Cleaning option, you can be sure that even the most complicated malware is removed.

Web Application Firewall

MalCare offers firewall protection which is something like fortifying your website from external attacks. The firewall fulfills one purpose: filter incoming traffic from the outside world that wants access to your WordPress site. MalCare scans over 100,000 websites in search of bad IPs. Now, bad IP here refers to IP addresses that are known to cause harm to the websites they tend to visit. Thus, whenever, someone from one of these marked IP addresses makes a request to access your site, MalCare Firewall blocks them. Neat, isn’t it?

Login Protection

Anyone who owns a website knows that website login pages are vulnerable to hack attempts. Protecting the login page is key to keeping a site safe. This is what MalCare Login Protection feature does. Malicious bots and hackers who are constantly trying to guess your username and passwords are locked out after a few failed attempts.

Site Hardening

You will surely be relieved to know MalCare offers site management features where you’re alerted of out-of-date plugins, themes, and WordPress core. You only need to click a few buttons to update them from the MalCare dashboard itself.  Moreover, there are options to remove plugins and themes that you no longer want.

WordPress recommends certain advance level website hardening techniques, that, in reality you could do on your own. However, they  requires some basic level of technical knowledge, and can be quite time-consuming. These are the best security practices, ranging from protecting your vulnerable files, database and back end specifically. MalCare’s strength lies in all the different components of website security that it brings together. It not only puts together existing security practices but also improves upon them.

BlogVault WordPress Backups

MalCare has the added functionality of being powered by BlogVault’s Powerful Backup Service. It doubles up as a backup service so that you are always protected and have access to your backups whenever you need them. Backups are an integral part of website security since they are the safety net a website falls to in case a hacker locks down your website instead of simply hacking it. This is, of course, just one scenario but there are many ways backups are important for a website.

Liquid Web only brings your attention to the problem. You need to proactively handle your website’s security since the onus is on you. WordPress is the world’s number one choice for building websites. The downside of such popularity is that it’s the number one target for hack attempts. Each year hundreds of thousands of websites being compromised. It’s clear that taking active steps to secure a website is the need of the hour.

Try MalCare for better peace of mind.
